Santo Domingo.– The Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, reported this Thursday that he instructed the director of the National Student Transportation System (TRAE) to personally follow up on the case of a school bus driver who was assaulted by several motorcyclists while carrying out his route in the Café sector of Herrera, in Santo Domingo Oeste.
The affected driver was identified as "Henrry González", who was transporting students to the school "Rafaela Santaella" when a collision occurred between the school bus and a motorcycle that, allegedly, was traveling in the opposite direction with two girls on board.
Through a post on the social network X, the official condemned the act and assured that the case will be handled by the corresponding authorities.
“
I have instructed the Director of TRAE to personally follow up on the incident that occurred at the Café de Herrera, where our driver Henry González was physically assaulted by a motorcyclist while on his route with students on board”, said De Camps.
According to witness accounts, after the incident the motorcyclist reacted violently and began to hit the driver in front of the students. Subsequently, other motoconcho drivers allegedly joined the aggression, causing scenes of tension and panic among the minors and residents of the area.
Family members of the driver requested the intervention of the authorities and asked that the alleged aggressor, known only as "Negro Malo", surrender to answer to justice.
Henrry González was injured and was transferred to a medical center, where he is receiving medical attention.
