Santo Domingo.– Actor and comedian Fausto Mata generated controversy after issuing a “sorry” loaded with sarcasm towards the urban exponent Yailin La Más Viral, whom he claimed not to consider an artist with merits, despite recognizing her global impact.
"As an artist it doesn't work... I don't accept you as a star, but I have to admit and accept that the world gave it to you," Mata expressed in statements that have provoked reactions on social media. Despite his criticisms, he also clarified that the singer does not consume prohibited substances, denying versions that were circulating.
The statements were offered during an interview on the program Politiqueando RD, hosted by Emilio López and Raeldo López, where the humorist addressed various topics of entertainment, politics, and his personal life.
During the conversation, Mata reiterated that he usually generates controversy because he defends his truth. In that context, he clarified that he is not against Santiago Matías as a person, although he is against some of his actions, despite recognizing that he has placed the Dominican Republic "on the world map" and whom he also described as "the father of modern communication".
In the political arena, he expressed his support for President Luis Abinader, highlighting decisions such as the closure of the border, although he criticized his surroundings. He also disagreed with independent candidacies, stating that "anyone could aspire afterwards," and considered that leaving the PRM would be a mistake, in addition to pointing out that this would be "the last chance" for Leonel Fernández.
Likewise, he expressed his support for the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assuring that he will be the next president, and proposed Carolina Mejía as his running mate.
In terms of entertainment, he maintained that the Dominican Republic is
"musically hijacked" and stated that the artist
Tokischa does not represent him nor is she an example, going so far as to say that he does not recommend consuming local music currently.
Mata also addressed personal aspects, pointing out that he doesn't have a manager because he doesn't take orders, and confessed that he went through a depression after his last relationship, added to family situations. In addition, he indicated that he is "cleaning up" his social networks, blocking users and filtering his content.
The comedian's statements have generated widespread debate on social media, both for their tone and for the forcefulness of their opinions on entertainment figures and national politics.
