Johnnie Mercedes celebrates FESTAE 2026 and highlights its value for Dominican theater

Santo Domingo. – The outstanding actor and theater director Johnnie Mercedes expressed his enthusiasm for being part of the International Festival of Performing Arts (FESTAE 2026), highlighting the importance of this initiative for the cultural development of the country.

Mercedes defined the event as a high-level proposal that brings together the best of national and international talent.

"I am very happy to be part of this festival, a private sector event led by Fausto Rojas, where we will have a wonderful gourmet dish: the best from there with the best from here," he stated.

As part of the programming, Mercedes will be on stage with the play "Yago, I am not who I am", a free version of Othello, by William Shakespeare, presented by the National Theater Company. The participation of this piece is part of the celebration of the 80 years of experience of the institution, considered one of the most important in the country and the region.

"We are celebrating 80 years of the National Theater Company, of which I have been a part for 26 years," he highlighted.

The FESTAE 2026 will take place from May 15 to 19 in Santo Domingo, with a program that integrates theater, music, and dance, consolidating itself as a new platform for cultural exchange in the Caribbean.
