Johnnié Mercedes speaks out on crime in Santiago: “It wasn't just one person, it was all of us”

Santo Domingo.- Through a video posted on his social media, actor Johnnié Mercedes spoke out after the tragic murder of Carlos David Abreu Quesada, a municipal employee, in an incident that occurred in Santiago. Mercedes not only referred to the violence of the attack in which the driver was chased by several motorcyclists to the Courthouse, where he was stabbed and assaulted, but also called for collective reflection on the role of society in these types of situations.

“But it wasn't the motorcyclists or that supposed journalist who killed him, it was all of us,” he expressed, emphasizing that social indifference and the normalization of small transgressions can escalate into tragedies.

The also professional psychologist, stated that everyday actions such as ignoring "red lights", allowing abuse or not intervening in risky situations contribute to creating an environment where violence can grow without consequences.
