Pantoja, Los Alcarrizos. – The Dominican government, through the Directorate of Strategic and Special Projects of the Presidency (Propeep), continued this Thursday the delivery of household goods to families affected by the floods caused by the trough of April 8 in the municipal districts of Pantoja and Palmarejo, in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos.
During the day, the Government impacted more than 150 families in Pantoja with the delivery of nearly 500 belongings, while in Palmarejo an additional distribution was carried out, for a total of approximately 800 items in both communities.
During the event, the director of Propeep, Robert Polanco, highlighted that the intervention responds to direct instructions from President Luis Abinader, who immediately followed up on the communities affected by the atmospheric phenomenon.
Polanco explained that, after receiving the presidential mandate, the Propeep teams and the Dominicana Digna program were activated, in coordination with local authorities and community leaders, to survey the affected families and channel aid effectively.
"The president instructed us to assist all those affected without distinction, ensuring that aid reaches every impacted household," said the official.
The director of Propeep highlighted that the process was carried out jointly with community leaders, who identified the most vulnerable areas and validated the beneficiary lists.
Also, Polanco specified: "Here, political color or religion doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if you are white, purple, green, or yellow; it doesn't matter if you are Catholic, Evangelical, or of any other faith. The solidarity of President Luis Abinader's government has reached every affected home."
He affirmed that the Government has been present, protecting lives, assisting families, and working to restore their peace of mind and dignity. “That is President Luis Abinader’s commitment to every Dominican.”
The delivered belongings include beds, furniture, dining sets, mattresses, fans, refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, washing machines, blenders, and other essential items that were lost due to the floods.
Polanco also reported that Propeep began the construction of two houses in the Villa María and Villa Morada sectors, in Pantoja, for families who completely lost their homes.
From his side, the mayor of Pantoja, Fidel de los Santos, highlighted that the surveys carried out together with community leaders have allowed the affected families to begin to receive concrete responses from the Government, ensuring that none will be left helpless.
In representation of the benefited families, Mrs. Ana Yean expressed her gratitude for the assistance received, pointing out that, despite the fear generated by the rains in the areas near the ravine, they trust that with the support of the Government they will be able to move forward.
