Dedicate 2026 women's superior tournament to Milagros Ortiz Bosch

Santo Domingo.- The National District Basketball Association (Abadina) announced this Thursday the 40th Women's Superior Basketball Tournament (TBSF Distrito 2026), which is scheduled to begin on Friday, May 22nd of this year and for the Seaboard Cup.

The dedication fell upon the legendary political leader Doña Milagros Ortiz Bosch, general director of Governmental Ethics and Integrity (DIGEIG) and advisor to the Executive Branch on ethics, transparency, and anti-corruption, and first vice president of the PRM. Edwin Castillo (Tatico), president of Abadina, gave the details of the competition in which the clubs San Carlos, current champion, Mauricio Báez, San Lázaro and La Ciénega will compete, which will officially play in the sports center of the Ensanche Luperón club. Castillo highlighted that on the opening day, the clubs La Ciénega and San Lázaro will face each other at 5:00 in the afternoon, then the opening ceremony will take place, and at 7:00 at night, the finalist teams of the 2025 San Carlos and Mauricio Báez tournament will compete. Castillo's statements were made at the press conference held this Thursday in the James Rodríguez conference room, of the Ministry of Sports, with the presence of the Vice Minister of Sports and Immortal Fernando Teruel; congresswoman Melina Sánchez, for the National District; and the Immortal José -Boyón- Domínguez, secretary of Abadina.

As well as, Junior Páez (Jipy), vice president of the Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal); Carlos Gerónimo, technical director; and Fernando Geraldino, Social Responsibility manager of the company Seaboard “Clean Energy”. In his central words, Castillo announced the appointment of deputy Melina Sánchez as the president of the Organizing Committee of the Women's TBS 2026. Teruel, Sánchez, Páez, Geraldino and Sánchez also spoke, who said an All-Star Game will be held. For his part, Gerónimo said that games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays, from 4:00 p.m., with a double header, in the regular season, and the teams will be able to hire two national reinforcement players and another two U20 players. He maintained that the regular season will be played in three rounds and each team will have nine games (three with each opponent), in which the winner of the first place will advance directly to the final series, while the second and third place will go to the semifinals, agreed to the best of a 3-2. The winner of first place and the victor in the semi-final will go to the title dispute, at 5-3.
