DR strengthens access to information and education through telecommunications

Santo Domingo.- The advancement of telecommunications and digital platforms continues to play a fundamental role in strengthening education, information, and social inclusion in the Dominican Republic, allowing thousands of citizens to have greater access to educational, cultural, and technological content in different communities of the country.
Among the initiatives promoted by the Government over the years, the Community Technology Centers (CTC) stand out, aimed at facilitating communities' access to technological training and digital learning; as well as the State Corporation of Radio and Television (CERTV), a state-owned media outlet that has historically served as a channel for information, education, and cultural dissemination for the Dominican population.


Similarly, the Educational and Cultural Multimedia EDUMÁS, attached to the Vice Ministry of Technical and Pedagogical Affairs of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD), which has been strengthening its educational programming through radio, television, and digital platforms aimed at students, teachers, and families.

Currently, EDUMÁS is developing a content update and expansion process aimed at academic reinforcement, reading comprehension, critical thinking, responsible use of technology, and family guidance, as part of the educational strategies supported by accessible communication tools for citizens.

Specialists agree that strengthening educational and community media represents an opportunity to continue reducing digital gaps and expanding access to knowledge, especially in vulnerable sectors where telecommunications are a key tool for inclusion and development.
