The platform Netflix announced the premiere of Michael Jackson: The Verdict, a three-episode docuseries that will address the controversial child sexual abuse trial that singer Michael Jackson faced in 2005. The production will arrive in the catalog on June 3rd and will focus on the judicial process that ended with the acquittal of the so-called "King of Pop" of all charges against him. According to Netflix, the series will include testimonies from jurors, lawyers, journalists, and witnesses who were present during the trial, with the aim of reconstructing what happened inside the courtroom, where cameras were not allowed.

The docuseries will be directed by Nick Green and produced by Candle True Stories, with the participation of executive producers Fiona Stourton, David Herman and James Goldston. The announcement comes a few weeks after the global success of the biopic Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jaafar Jackson, the artist's nephew. However, the film avoided delving into the accusations and legal controversies that marked the last years of the singer's life. The new production promises to reopen the debate about the artistic and personal legacy of Michael Jackson, a figure that continues to generate divided opinions more than a decade after his death in 2009.
