Santo Domingo.– The captain of the Dominican Republic Army, Alba Montero Rojas, died on the afternoon of this Saturday after spending 46 days in the intensive care unit of the Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital.
Rojas, who was injured in the tragedy that occurred on April 8th in the Jet Set nightclub, becomes the 236th victim of the fateful event.
The officer was the wife of Army Captain Randi Rodríguez, who died on the same day of the incident. Both were caught in the incident while sharing at the establishment located on Independencia Avenue.
Montero Rojas was the first lieutenant to hold said position in the Salcedo Penitentiary Center and was appointed by general order No. 60-2018, dated 12-31-2018, by the General Commander of the Dominican Republic Army, Major General Estanislao Gonell Regalado.

What's still pending?
The collapse of the roof of the Jet Set nightclub, owned by Antonio Espaillat, occurred on the morning of Tuesday, April 8th, a month later, the tragedy is still an open wound for dozens of families and for a large part of the Dominican population, who are still waiting for concrete answers about the causes of the collapse that occurred while Rubby Pérez, “the highest voice of merengue”, was giving a concert.
Said event has highlighted the need to review construction regulations and the supervision of public establishments in the Dominican Republic.
