Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) announced that, starting July 1, 2025, all civil status certificates will be issued under a single format and will cost RD$600. This measure, established in Resolution 9-2025, unifies the documents previously known as “inextensos” and “extensos”, eliminating these versions.
The provision covers birth, acknowledgment, marriage, divorce, and death certificates, both within the national territory and in service offices abroad. Certificates for school purposes, for ID renewal, or required by the courts will continue to be free of charge.
According to the JCE, the objective is to reduce bureaucracy, facilitate the understanding of official documents, and standardize services, eliminating confusion caused by the different previous formats.
The institution assured that this measure will not affect the process of obtaining or renewing the identity card.
