Santo Domingo.- The Senatorial Office of the National District reported this Sunday that the resources of the Gadiel Fund for the month of September were used to transform the lives of children with cleft lip and/or palate.
In collaboration with the foundation Operation Smile, eight underprivileged infants were operated on, who required surgery to correct the congenital malformation during the fetal process.

Senator for the National District, Omar Fernández, explained that "the Gadiel Fund for this month of September we dedicate it to children who have been born with a condition that affects their health, nutrition and speech, and in the long run even their self-esteem and confidence." According to the testimony of parents of children with this condition, they had difficulty solving this congenital malformation and fear of the negative impact this could cause on their children's lives. "It's really tough, nobody expects something like this, everyone expects their child to be born healthy. Due to my ignorance or inexperience, I didn't know how serious it was," explained Rebeca Guzmán, mother of one of the children who benefited. "We felt frustrated, we clearly didn't know what to do, but thanks to God and these good people we found a solution," said Luis Santos Villafaña, Arianna's father. The capital senator explained that it is a way to transparently account for every penny, returning the people's tax money, on issues that are needed.
