Three months of pre-trial detention imposed on doctor accused of abusing Haitian woman in SFM

San Francisco de Macorís. – The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the Duarte province imposed three months of preventive detention as a coercive measure against doctor Wilver Armando Polanco Sanz, accused of alleged sexual assault to the detriment of the young woman Robeloviu Toussaint, in a health center in the municipality of Las Guáranas in San Francisco de Macorís. The court ordered that the defendant serve the measure in the Vista al Valle Correction and Rehabilitation Center, considering that the act is serious and that not only the victim would be at risk, but also society.

Meanwhile, outside the Courthouse, protesters in support of the doctor remained, expressing that they respect the court's decision but do not share it, and assured that they will continue to fight in defense of what they consider the doctor's morality and innocence.

Some of the protesters questioned aspects of the investigative process and reiterated that they will remain vigilant regarding the development of the case.
