Santo Domingo. - The Dominican Republic's Meteorology Institute (INDOMET), forecast that for today Tuesday in the morning hours some showers could occur in provinces such as: La Altagracia, La Romana, Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Barahona and Pedernales, associated with the trough affecting the country.
After midday, these conditions will add to those associated with the diurnal cycle, generating cloudy increases accompanied by moderate to heavy showers locally, thunderstorms and wind gusts until the early hours of the night, especially towards the provinces: Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, La Vega, Santiago, Azua, San Juan, Valverde, Puerto Plata, Dajabón, Santiago Rodríguez, Monte Cristi and Elías Piña.
However, by Wednesday, the trough will be moving away from the country, therefore, the moisture content will be reduced in our air mass. Despite the approach of a trough to the north of the country, the rainy activity will be reduced to isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon until the early hours of the night, towards provinces such as: La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Romana, Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Azua, San Juan, Elias Piña and Dajabón.
The INDOMET National Forecast Center maintains provinces under meteorological alert level, due to the risk of urban flooding, possible rises in rivers, streams and ravines.
National District: Cloudy with some showers in the morning.
Santo Domingo Norte: Cloudy with some isolated showers in the afternoon.
Santo Domingo Este: Cloudy with some showers in the morning.
Santo Domingo Oeste: Cloudy with some showers in the morning.
Temperatures: the minimum will be between 22 °C and 24 °C and the maximum between 33 °C and 35 °C.
Summary: A trough will continue generating showers in several provinces during the afternoon until the early hours of the night. Temperatures will continue to be quite hot. From tomorrow, an improvement in precipitation is expected.
On Thursday, the humidity associated with the tropical wave will generate scattered showers in the morning over provinces in the southeast and the Caribbean coast. During the afternoon, a trough in the middle levels of the troposphere, located northeast of the country, will favor cloud developments with locally moderate downpours, thunderstorms and wind gusts, mainly in the northeast, north, the Central Mountain Range and the border area. These conditions could extend until the early hours of the night.
