The full statement is as follows:
Since the tragic event that occurred on April 8th at the establishment known as Jet Set, our family has remained silent. Not out of indifference, but out of deep respect for the victims' pain and out of prudence in the face of ongoing legal proceedings.
However, faced with the circulation of multiple pieces of information that do not correspond to the truth or to duly documented facts, we feel that the time has come to speak to the country, with sincerity, clarity, and respect. Mr. Antonio Espaillat, at the time of the event, was out of the country, participating in a previously scheduled international activity. Even so, that same day he voluntarily returned to the Dominican Republic, and since then he has been at the disposal of the authorities, complying with every requirement and actively collaborating with the investigation.Over these two months, concrete actions have been taken, including:
The seizure of the property was formally requested to preserve the structural evidence and allow for an objective and impartial expert assessment. It was requested to accredit the international expert engineer Nicolás Saenz from the firm Thornton Tomasetti as a technical representative for the expert assessment being carried out. Today, over 100 documents were presented as a defense budget, including voluntarily submitted passports, certifications of family and work ties, medical records, and press publications. A public assistance channel for victims was enabled from May 1 (announced in Diario Libre, p. 10). More than 40 economic compensation and human support agreements, without advertising or any conditioning, have been subscribed, legalized before a notary, with relatives of the deceased, injured persons and affected musicians. A respectful treatment of case witnesses has also been documented, including Mr. Gregory Adames, whose own private conversations contradict any narrative of intimidation. We haven't sought prominence or justifications.Today we decided to speak not to defend ourselves in the media, but for society to know the truth with basedocumental: we have acted with responsibility, transparency, and humanity.
To the families who are suffering, we reiterate our respect and unconditional support. To the authorities, we reaffirm our full willingness to cooperate. And to Dominican society, we ask for justice based on facts, not narratives. We make available to the media and all interested parties (annex) the budgets presented and deposited before the court in charge of knowing the coercive measures. The document describes evidence, technical studies, legal certifications, and agreements signed with more than forty victims and family members. This document and inventory presents, for the first time, a detailed reconstruction, supported by documentary evidence, of the behavior of the jet set family and the Espaillat family in the face of the events that occurred in Jet Set.
Based on this evidence, the publicly presented arguments about the case are precisely dismantled.
