P. Diddy breaks down in tears during his trial

American rapper Sean Diddy Combs, better known as P. Diddy, broke down in tears during his trial this Friday, in which his sentence is expected to be handed down, reports Daily Mail. The defendant, accused of two charges related to human trafficking for the purpose of prostitution, was moved while listening to the statements of his six adult children, who took turns speaking in favor of their father, describing him as a "changed man" and assuring that they still need his presence in their lives.

Prior to this, it was learned that the artist sent a message to the judge presiding over his case with the intention of apologizing for his actions. In the letter, Combs acknowledged that his crimes stemmed from his ego and that, at that time, he was "lost in drugs and excesses". He assured that his year in prison transformed him for the better. "My former self died in prison and a new version of me was reborn. Prison changes you or kills you; I choose to live," he wrote.

What's in store for Combs?

The definitive sentence of the 55-year-old rapper is scheduled for this Friday, October 3rd. The U.S. Attorney's Office has requested the judge in the case to sentence him to "no less than 135 months" in prison, which is equivalent to 11 years and a fine of 500,000 dollars. For their part, their legal team advocated for a lenient sentence, of no more than 14 months, pointing out that they had already served 13 months in pre-trial detention after being denied bail of 50 million dollars. Combs was found guilty in July of two misdemeanor counts, related to transportation for prostitution, but was acquitted of more serious charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy to extort, which could have earned him a life sentence. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and his conviction is expected to be appealed.
