"I am deeply saddened by the family, friends, and colleagues of Gabriel de Jesus Firmino, a local worker who lost his life yesterday at the site. My heart is with his family and loved ones," the singer stated in a statement released by her team. The victim, a 28-year-old security technician, died from the impact of "a stage assembly structure that collapsed", according to the Military Police of Rio stated yesterday in a note. According to the testimony of other employees cited by the Fire Department, the young man "suffered the crushing of the lower extremities in a lifting system". When the rescue teams arrived, the victim had already been removed from the accident site by their colleagues. They received first aid on the spot and were quickly taken to a hospital, but did not survive the injuries and passed away. Rio de Janeiro is already preparing for the arrival of the Colombian singer, one of the greatest representatives of Latin music, where around two million people are expected to gather to see the performance.
