Editorial.- The Association of Dominican Professionals in Europe and the La Isla de Oro Association celebrated with more than 250 women the “Dominican Mothers Day”, in the city of Genoa, Italy, last weekend, where they enjoyed gifts and various artistic performances.
The event was held in collaboration with the Institute of Dominicans Abroad INDEX-Italy, represented by Giovanni Hernández, financial director of this institution, and the Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic in Italy, represented by its president, Nancy Polanco.

This celebration marked a historic event for all mothers in the city of Genoa; the Central Electoral Board was present at this activity, represented by Mrs. Rafaela Marte, the councilors of the Genoa city council, dott. Davide Falteri and dott. Paolo Aime, and the Representative of the Cgil of the city of Genoa, dott.ssa Sonia Damar.
The Dominican Republic's ambassador to Italy, Dr. Rafael Lantigua, sent an emotional congratulatory message, as did Mr. Julio Cesar Garden Regalado, head of the Index Italia Office, where they exalted the value of Dominican mothers around the world, especially in the city of Genoa.
The organizers of the activity thanked MP Ultramar, Naty Nova, who provided her financial support, as well as Raquel de la Cruz, a worthy representative of Dominican folklore, the association of Venezuelans in Genoa, the Colibrì association of Alessandria, the Dominicans in Savona, the association of professional nurses in Italy, among others.
In the event, 30 exemplary mothers were recognized for their dedication and effort in this city, as well as a posthumous tribute to the young Dominican Yirel Peña Santana, vilely murdered in Italy on the second anniversary of her death.
The mothers present enjoyed typical dishes, live music with the participation of the Colombian artist Andreina Rivas, El Mariachi, El Potrillo and the melody of the Dominican voice, Roberto Gómez “El Bobote”, as well as raffles, and the special presentation of the folklore group “Estrellas del Caribe” of the Association of Dominican Professionals in Europe.
Upon concluding the event, the organizers extended a special thank you to the ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Italy, Doctor Rafael Lantigua, to Index Italia, to congresswoman Natty Nova, to Mrs. Nancy Polanco, to Mrs. Rafaela Marte, and to the Dominican community residing in the Liguria region for supporting this activity, as well as to all the merchants, hairdressers, and estheticians, for being present at this activity dedicated to all Dominican mothers.
