Obama destaca misión Artemis II como símbolo de inspiración global

Estados Unidos.- El expresidente de Estados Unidos, Barack Obama, calificó como “inspirador” el lanzamiento de la misión Artemis II, destacando que el programa espacial “plasma una parte esencial de lo que significa ir más allá de lo que creíamos posible”.

A través de un mensaje publicado en la red social X, el exmandatario expresó su esperanza de que los cuatro astronautas de la misión motiven a una nueva generación a seguir sus pasos, en lo que representa el regreso de vuelos tripulados alrededor de la Luna desde 1972.

Las palabras de Obama llegan en un momento histórico para la exploración espacial, tras el despegue exitoso de Artemis II, la primera misión tripulada de la NASA más allá de la órbita terrestre en más de cinco décadas.

La misión Artemis II despegó el miércoles 1 de abril de 2026 desde el Centro Espacial Kennedy, en Florida, con una tripulación integrada por cuatro astronautas: Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch y Jeremy Hansen. Durante aproximadamente 10 días, la nave Orion orbitará la Luna sin alunizar, en una prueba clave para validar sistemas de soporte vital, navegación y operaciones en el espacio profundo.

Este vuelo marca la primera vez desde la era Apolo que humanos viajan hacia el entorno lunar, alcanzando distancias superiores a los 250,000 millas de la Tierra y estableciendo nuevos récords en exploración tripulada. Además, la misión tiene hitos importantes en inclusión: Koch será la primera mujer en orbitar la Luna, Glover el primer astronauta negro en hacerlo y Hansen el primer no estadounidense en participar en este tipo de misión.
