Niño de ocho años logra enviar en la misión Artemis II a su pequeño juguete 'Rise'

Los Ángeles.- Un niño de ocho años logró enviar en la misión Artemis II a 'Rise', un pequeño juguete de peluche que acompañará por los próximos 10 días a la tripulación de la nave Orión, que espera hacer historia al llegar al lado más oculto de la Luna.

Lucas Ye, nacido y residente de Mountain View en el norte de California, ganó un concurso internacional convocado por la NASA, entre más de 2.500 estudiantes de más de 50 países para diseñar el indicador de ingravidez.

'Rise' representa a la Luna con una gorra de béisbol que tiene el dibujo de la Tierra en su parte principal y las estrellas y las galaxias en la visera.

Ye se inspiró en la fotografía 'Earthrise' (Salida de la Tierra), tomada durante la misión Apolo 8.

La tripulación la conforman el comandante Reid Wiseman, la especialista Christina Koch y el piloto Victor Glover, los tres de la NASA, así como Jeremy Hansen, de la Agencia Espacial Canadiense (CSA), quienes hicieron parte del jurado.

En declaraciones compartidas por la NASA, Koch destacó la importancia de la conexión de 'Rise' con el legado del Apolo 8, una misión que contribuyó a inspirar el actual regreso a la Luna.

Un equipo de la NASA fue el encargado de construir el juguete.

Las misiones espaciales han tenido la tradición de llevar un indicador de gravedad cero desde la misión Vostok 1, de Yuri Gagarin en 1961, según información citada por Los Angeles Times.

Un peluche de Snoopy con un traje de astronauta en miniatura fue llevado en la misión Artemis I.

Ye tuvo la oportunidad de viajar al Centro Espacial Kennedy, en Florida, para asistir al lanzamiento del miércoles junto a su familia y aseguró haber estado "muy, muy feliz".
