The White House is monitoring Iranian attacks on a US base in Qatar

Washington.- The White House is monitoring this Monday the Iranian attacks on the US air base of Al Udeid, in Qatar, in retaliation for the US bombing of the weekend on key facilities of Tehran's nuclear program, according to officials from the US presidential office cited by local media.

For its part, Iranian state television confirmed today attacks by the Iranian Army against US bases in both Qatar and Iraq. US media outlets such as the channel Fox News report an attack with around six projectiles, including medium-range ballistic missiles (MRBMs) and short-range cruise missiles, on Al Udeid, the largest US military base in the Middle East. The Iranian response arrives hours after the US embassy in Qatar recommended that US citizens residing in the country "shelter in their homes until further notice." In Iraq, the US military has important facilities such as Erbil Air Base, in Iraqi Kurdistan, or Al Asad Air Base, in Anbar province, in the center of the country.

In turn, the Iranian Parliament already requested on Sunday the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for the transit of oil in the Middle East, although the final decision depends on Iran's Supreme National Security Council.
