A woman from China's Zhejiang province suffered a
cerebral hemorrhage and fell into a coma after spending two hours sunbathing in intense heat in an attempt to "cure illnesses".
The tragedy occurred when the woman, surnamed Wang, decided to try a traditional Chinese medicine remedy that apparently indicates that "
sunbathing on the back can warm the 'yang' energy, dispel dampness, and cure diseases", according to
South China Morning Post.

Wang lay face down outside her house for two hours at noon, and when she returned inside the house
she collapsed and lost consciousness. She was taken to a hospital, where doctors found that she had suffered an aneurysmal cerebral hemorrhage and a life-threatening cerebral hernia.
The woman underwent emergency surgery, but despite the efforts of the specialists, she fell into a coma. According to Ye Xiangming, director of the Rehabilitation Department of Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Wang had suffered
severe brain damage. In addition, he warned that a prolonged state of bed rest could cause even more health complications.
As part of the recovery therapy, the patient had to go through a complex rehabilitation process and undergo a series of surgeries. Over time,
Wang managed to regain the ability to sit, stand, speak, and feed herself.
"The saying 'sunbathing cures all diseases' has no scientific basis," Ye emphasized. "
Prolonged exposure to the sun at high temperatures is extremely dangerous for the elderly and those with pre-existing conditions such as high blood pressure or cerebrovascular disease, which can lead to serious problems such as heatstroke or stroke," the doctor explained.
