St. Louis. – The Milwaukee Brewers made history again this Sunday by securing, for the third consecutive season and the fourth in the last five years, the National League Central Division title. Although they fell 5-1 to the Cardinals, the Cubs' loss in Cincinnati sealed the classification and ignited the celebration in the visiting clubhouse of Busch Stadium.

With this achievement, the Brewers have made seven postseason trips in the last eight years, confirming the dominance of a franchise that, until 2008, had accumulated 26 seasons without qualifying. "Every year is different, but every time you get to the playoffs, and especially every time you win the division, that's not something that's just handed to you. It's very special," said Rickie Weeks, former player and now associate manager of Milwaukee. The team led by Pat Murphy overcame a shaky start (0-4 in the first games) and significant pitching absences, such as the injuries of Brandon Woodruff, José Quintana, Trevor Megill and DL Hall. With streaks of eight, 11 and 14 consecutive wins, Milwaukee established itself as the club with the best record in Major League Baseball, leader in run differential and with an offense and defense among the most productive. The Dominican Freddy Peralta has been the ace of the rotation, while youngsters like Brice Turang and the Venezuelan William Contreras have established themselves as key pieces. "This year is a little different because we started off poorly. Nobody thought we were going to have the best record in the league. That's great for us," Contreras said. The divisional championship also guarantees the Brewers one of the top two spots in the National League and a direct pass to the Divisional Series, which will begin on Saturday, October 4 at American Family Field. Now, the challenge will be to break the losing streak in October: since the 2018 Championship Series, Milwaukee has a record of 2-11 in playoffs and is still looking to return to a World Series for the first time since 1982
