Atlanta, GA. — The impossible became reality at Truist Park this Thursday, when the Arizona Diamondbacks overcame a six-run deficit in the ninth inning to defeat the Atlanta Braves 11-10, completing a historic sweep in the three-game series.

Down 10-4 with an out in the ninth inning and with a win probability of just 0.1%, the D-backs unleashed an unstoppable offense that included seven consecutive runs and a two-run double by Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez, who sealed the comeback after striking out to open the inning.“This game isn't over until the 27 outs are recorded,” Suárez stated. “We went step by step. We never gave up.”
The reaction began with a solo home run by Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr., followed by a walk to Tim Tawa and a two-run homer by Alek Thomas. Then came the key contributions from Venezuelan José Herrera (BB), Corbin Carroll (double), Dominican Ketel Marte (RBI single), Ildemaro Vargas (single) and finally, the decisive double by Suárez to complete one of the most improbable comebacks in recent history.Historical fact: Before this victory, the D-backs had a record of 0-419 when they were losing by six or more runs after eight innings. Likewise, the Braves had not lost a game with a six-run lead entering the ninth inning since 1973, breaking a streak of 766 consecutive victories in those conditions.
“This team is dynamic,” manager Torey Lovullo said. “We never know when the comeback is going to start, but we trust it can come at any moment.”The comeback was orchestrated against the relief of Scott Blewett and the Cuban closer Raisel Iglesias, who couldn't stop the push of some offensively fired-up D-backs with their morale through the roof.
With this victory, Arizona extended its winning streak to four consecutive games, with an emotional boost that could set the course for their season.
