MLB Recap: Andújar decides with grand slam; Tatis Jr. drives in three in Padres win

Santo Domingo.— Miguel Andújar's bat caught fire this Wednesday to lead the Latin offensive in the Major Leagues. The Dominican slugger hit a grand slam that drove in four runs and led the Cincinnati Reds to an 8-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies, on a day when several compatriots shone with the bat. For the Phillies, Dominican starter Cristopher Sánchez took the loss after allowing four runs —one unearned— in six innings. In San Diego, Ramón Laureano and Fernando Tatis Jr. were the protagonists in the Padres' 11-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants. Laureano hit a two-run home run and scored three runs, while Tatis Jr. drove in three and scored one. Dominican Manny Machado and Venezuelan Luis Arráez also contributed to the offense. In Arizona, Ketel Marte and Geraldo Perdomo drove the Diamondbacks to a 6-4 victory over the Texas Rangers. Marte hit a home run and drove in four, and Perdomo added a home run and three runs scored. The Milwaukee Brewers extended their streak to 12 victories by defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates 12-5, with Venezuelan William Contreras driving in four and Dominican Ronny Simón scoring two. For the Pirates, Bryan Reynolds hit two home runs and drove in five.
In Houston, Yainer Díaz and Jeremy Peña were key in the Astros' 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox, both hitting home runs. In Detroit, Wenceel Pérez drove in the only run in the 1-0 victory of the Tigers over the Chicago White Sox. Finally, the Washington Nationals defeated the Kansas City Royals 8-7 thanks to a grand slam by Nathaniel Lowe. Dominican Luis García Jr. scored twice and his compatriot José Ferrer took the victory from the bullpen. For the Royals, Carlos Estevez allowed the decisive run in an inning.
