Rain forces postponement of several competitions at the Junior Pan American Games

Asunción. – An intense storm with torrential rains that has been hitting the Gran Asunción region since Tuesday morning forced the rescheduling of several sports disciplines of the ASU2025 Junior Pan American Games, which are being held in the Paraguayan capital. The climatic phenomenon not only affected the agenda of the youth games. According to reports from the newspaper ABC Color, the storm caused floods, falling trees and material damage in the microcenter of Asunción and in nearby locations such as Luque, Fernando de la Mora and Lambaré.

Extended alert in Paraguay

The Meteorology Directorate extended the storm alert, noting that the bad weather will extend beyond Gran Asunción and will affect ten departments of the country. Among the most affected regions are Central, San Pedro, Caaguazú, Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, Paraguarí, Ñeembucú and Presidente Hayes. Despite the complications, the organizing committee of the Games assured that they are working on logistical adjustments to maintain the schedule and guarantee the safety of athletes, officials, and the general public. The Junior Pan American Games ASU2025, which bring together thousands of young athletes from across the continent, are held amidst a climate that has tested both sports planning and the response capacity of the Paraguayan authorities.
