New York.- The popular smartphone video game 'Angry Birds' will be inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame World of Video Games of The Strong National Museum of Play, the institution reported in a statement.
Created by Rovio Entertainment, the game was launched in 2009 and has since evolved with various entertainment, animation, and consumer products. In 2016, the company produced the film 'The Angry Birds Movie' and its sequel, 'The Angry Birds Movie 2', released in 2019.
"Rovio caused a sensation with its application, designing a game that perfectly adapted to the capabilities and limitations of mobile phones and finding a way to get it to consumers," the museum stated in the statement. The success of 'Angry Birds'
The institution also highlighted that, when Apple published its list of most downloaded applications of all time in 2013, 'Angry Birds' topped the ranking as the most downloaded paid application in history. Three sequels to the game also appeared in the top 25.

According to some estimates, it has been downloaded more than 2 billion times. The museum also recalled that its universe has expanded beyond video games and that a new film will be released at the end of this year.
