Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Women launched the 2026 cohort of the Adolescent Multipliers Program, made up of 100 adolescents from Greater Santo Domingo, with the aim of strengthening youth leadership and preventing teen pregnancy and early unions. The initiative is developed in coordination with local governments, the Mancomunidad del Gran Santo Domingo, the education system, and community organizations, as part of a territorial intervention model based on peer-to-peer training.

The event was led by the Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes, along with municipal authorities, representatives of international cooperation organizations, and entities from the social and youth areas.

During her intervention, Reyes highlighted that the program aims to prevent adolescents from interrupting their life projects due to early pregnancies and to help young people develop leadership skills and responsible decision-making. He also explained that the initiative is part of a State public policy based on evidence, aimed at strengthening prevention and accompaniment in prioritized territories of the country. The deputy director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Yongjeong Kim, valued the program as an effective tool for the training of youth leaders, highlighting peer-to-peer learning as a key method for its impact on communities and schools.

The program includes the training of adolescents between 12 and 18 years old in leadership, communication, and life skills, who subsequently replicate the knowledge in their educational and community environments. Within the framework of the activity, the Ministry of Women and the Commonwealth of Greater Santo Domingo signed a collaboration agreement to strengthen the implementation of the program and ensure its sustainability at the municipal level.
