According to the company, "Liquid Glass" simulates the "optical qualities of glass" and is even capable of giving "joy" to users. The last update to Apple's design was made in 2013, with the release of iOS 7.

The redesign will be more noticeable in some applications, such as the Camera app, which in the new update will be simpler, as only the most used modes, camera and video, will be visible, and users will be able to swipe to the side to see panoramic or cinematic modes, or swipe up to see additional controls, such as timers.
The company also announced a change in the way Apple names its major operating system updates, as it will now do so using the year number following its introduction, similar to what automobiles do.
Meanwhile, today iOS 26 was presented, which will be released this fall, as announced by CEO Tim Cook.
Lots of Apple Intelligence for all apps
But even so, Apple today made Apple Intelligence (the company's AI) the great protagonist of the first day of the developers conference again and announced new features powered by this cutting-edge technology throughout its ecosystem.
This is Apple's second major iOS update following the introduction of AI features. The previous version, iOS 18, incorporated some basic AI features, such as tools to improve writing or the ability to integrate ChatGPT.
With the new updates, Apple's AI will be able to translate live with subtitles calls and messages or be a personal trainer that encourages the user when running, among other functions. One of the most curious functions is that the AI will be able to answer a call from an unknown number and give the user a summary of who is calling in case they are not interested in answering and thus better filter calls from potential scammers.
Furthermore, the company noted that it is opening its on-device AI model to external app developers, which means that iOS users will be able to enjoy more features with Apple Intelligence in third-party applications.
