Santiago. – The medical director of the Comprehensive Care Center for Disability (CAID), doctor Fernando José Benoit Peña, informed that the New Model of Attention and Services (N-MAS) has been launched, an initiative that represents a significant effort to improve the quality of life of children with disabilities and their families.
Dr. Benoit highlighted that this model has been the result of "much work, dedication, and commitment from a great team that has made its implementation possible." He explained that with the N-MAS, the coverage of care is expanded, the modalities of therapy are diversified, and the human resource is strengthened, with the hiring of new professionals specialized in the area.
"With the New Model of Attention and Services we optimize the way we support children with disabilities, offering more accessible, comprehensive, and personalized care. This allows us to respond to the growth in demand for specialized services, especially from families with lower incomes," these statements were offered by Dr. Fernando José Benoit Peña at the Congreso De La Mañana by Coco TV.
The director of CAID in Santiago explained that the institution has had to increase its response capacity, going from a single schedule of 8:00 in the morning to 4:00 in the afternoon, to two service shifts: from 8:00 to 12:00 noon and from 2:00 to 7:00 in the evening. With this measure, working parents have greater facilities to take their children to therapy.
He also indicated that on Saturdays a group therapy session has been added from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., which also expands the options for care and generates a positive impact on the family and social dynamics of the users.
During her intervention, she clarified that therapeutic processes do not have a rigid or limited time, as they depend on the condition, symptoms, and evolution of each child. "We work by objectives, establishing specific goals, and we carry out periodic evaluations every three or six months to measure the improvement and development of skills," she pointed out.
Finally, the director of CAID Santiago highlighted that the New Model of Attention and Services (N-MAS) constitutes a firm step towards inclusive and sustainable care, reaffirming the institution's commitment to families and to the construction of a more just, supportive, and sensitive society in the face of disability.
