Santo Domingo – The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported this Friday night the reduction to 12 provinces under alert levels, due to the rains associated with a trough that has been affecting the national territory in recent days. According to the agency, six provinces remain under yellow alert: Monte Cristi, Santiago Rodríguez, Duarte, Sánchez Ramírez, Monte Plata and La Vega. Meanwhile, six others remain on green alert: Puerto Plata, Valverde, Monseñor Nouel, Hato Mayor, El Seibo, and San Pedro de Macorís. The COE explained that the decision responds to the persistence of humidity in the soil after the rainfall recorded during the last five days, which maintains the risk of urban and rural floods, as well as possible rises in rivers, streams and ravines, in addition to landslides in vulnerable areas.
