Community Technology Centers celebrate "Girls in ICT Day" in Villa Altagracia.

This day, held within the framework of Girls in ICT Day, is an initiative aimed at motivating and sparking the interest of girls and adolescents in the digital environment, in which 100 participants were certified. Villa Altagracia. – With the commitment to promote digital inclusion and foster young talent, the Community Technology Centers (CTC) held the event “Girls in ICT” at its headquarters in Villa Altagracia, a training day focused on the safe and innovative use of technology. The initiative, developed on the occasion of Girls in ICT Day, aimed to encourage girls, adolescents and young women to become interested in careers related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), also contributing to closing the gender digital gap in the Dominican Republic. During the activity, 100 girls and adolescents were certified after completing a training process that included content on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, drone operation, and soft skills development. The training took place during the month of April by the CTC's Technological Training team. In the act, Amanda Bernabel, in charge of Digital Citizenship, valued the commitment shown by the young women during the training process, highlighting that their discipline and willingness to learn constitute a solid foundation for their future in the technological field. The event was led by Geanilda Vásquez, coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet of the Presidency, who urged the participants to continue their preparation in technological areas, underlining the importance of increasing female participation in innovation sectors.

From his side, Isidro Torres, general director of the CTC, acknowledged the dedication and enthusiasm of the participants, motivating them to continue training as part of a generation that is advancing towards technological development. The conference included specialized lectures such as "AI-driven cyber threats," given by cybersecurity engineer Lorenni Suero, and "Digital brains and virtual shields: understanding AI," led by technologist Anyeska Díaz. Students from the polytechnics Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia and José Núñez de Cáceres also participated in the event, as well as from the Estiliano Susano School and the Félix Evaristo Abreu Mejía High School, who were part of the training program. As a recognition of their performance, ten of the most outstanding participants received technological equipment to support the continuity of their training. The training process was coordinated by Nelson Núñez, along with a team made up of Amanda Bernabel, Silvio Pérez, Juan del Rosario, Héctor Marino Pérez and facilitators from the CTCs. The International Girls in ICT Day, promoted by the International Telecommunication Union, is celebrated every year in April with the aim of encouraging girls and young women around the world to explore opportunities in the technology sector.
