CONADIS presents progress of the Dominican government before the UN

New York.- The president of the National Council on Disability CONADIS, Benny Metz, announced that the Dominican State has advanced more than 70% in the co-construction of the National Disability Plan 2025-2035 to continue deepening the approach to the challenges in terms of accessibility, education, employment, health and citizen participation. During his intervention at the 18th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations Organization, held in New York City, Metz explained that with this plan the country will be significantly advancing in the guarantee of the rights of all people with some type of disability.

“El gobierno del presidente Luis Abinader ha puesto en vigencia la ley 43-23, que reconoce la lengua de señas en la República Dominicana, además de la Ley 34-23 de Atención, Inclusión y Protección para las Personas con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA). Esto demuestra la visión de un gobierno con sensibilidad social y acción para la inclusión”,

explicó Metz
Metz indicated that during the year 2024, a process of Diagnosis of the advances and challenges of Law 5-13 on the rights of people with disabilities was carried out, through consultation processes and working groups with state organizations and civil society to coordinate opportunities for improvement for the benefit of people with disabilities.
