Santo Domingo.- A total of 174 children and adolescents have been identified in a situation of orphanhood or parental loss as a consequence of the tragedy that occurred on April 8th at the Jet Set nightclub, reported this Monday Pazzis Paulino, director of Territorial Management and Supervision of the National Council for Children and Adolescents (CONANI).
During the presentation of the official report, Paulino detailed that eight of the affected minors have some disability, which has required the activation of a specialized response within the accompaniment plan implemented by the Government.
He also highlighted that 34 lost both parents as a result of the tragedy, which left a toll of 237 dead.
These cases are being addressed through the Case Management Model of the National Protection System, which guarantees comprehensive personalized care, covering psychological, educational, legal, family, and health aspects.
CONANI executes this line of action through 16 of its 39 regional and municipal offices, with emphasis on the Metropolitan Regional Office, which concentrates 53 of the 174 registered cases. The follow-up of these minors will extend for at least one year, as part of the Socio-family Intervention Protocol activated by the State.
These actions are added to the comprehensive plan led by the Supérate program, in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health, SIUBEN, the SNS and the CNSS, which also includes financial support, emotional care and continuity of access to health for families impacted by the disaster.
