Santiago.- Members of the National Police dismantled an alleged gang dedicated to motorcycle theft and robberies in different sectors of Santiago, during an operation carried out in the municipality of Baitoa that culminated in four people arrested, the recovery of two stolen motorcycles and the seizure of a homemade weapon.
The intervention occurred following reports of the theft of two motorcycles in separate incidents that occurred recently. According to the law enforcement institution, the agents managed to recover both vehicles and arrest the alleged perpetrators shortly after one of the assaults.
The detainees were identified as Javier Alexander Toribio, 30 years old, who has a criminal record for robberies; Samuel Alberto Morán, 19 years old; and the young people Wilfri Jean Minaya and Alexander Minaya Cabrera, both 18 years old. According to preliminary investigations, the four were part of a criminal structure that operated through assaults to strip citizens of their motorcycles.
Authorities indicated that those arrested were intercepted moments after having robbed a resident of Hato del Yaque of a Gato brand motorcycle, black in color, through a robbery.
