Santo Domingo. - Specialized units of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and members of the Public Ministry, within the framework of the strengthening of operational intelligence, seized 85 packages presumably cocaine, amid interdiction and surveillance operations carried out in the municipality of Pedro Brand, Santo Domingo province.
After receiving intelligence reports, anti-narcotics agents deployed a surveillance device to capture a man who, aboard a truck, would mobilize a significant amount of narcotic substances, managing to intercept him near the new toll booth of the municipality of Pedro Brand.
By order of the prosecutor and for security reasons, the detainee and the vehicle were transferred to the DNCD headquarters, where a more rigorous inspection was carried out, discovering in the roof of the truck, a secret compartment (stash), inside which the packages of the substance were seized, wrapped in brown paper and adhesive tape.

During the operation, a 23-year-old man was arrested, who is being handed over to the Public Ministry, to be informed of coercive measures in the coming hours for violation of law 50-88, on drugs and controlled substances. In the intervention, two cell phones, documents, and other evidence related to the process were also seized. "Authorities are expanding investigations related to the case, while pursuing other individuals linked to this network, who, according to reports, are engaged in drug trafficking under this modality in different regions of the country." The 85 packages of the alleged drug were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) which will determine the type and weight of the substance.
