“El Callao” falls in alleged confrontation with DICRIM agents in SFM

San Francisco de Macorís. – In an operation carried out in the Hatillo community, agents of the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) killed Anderson Peña, popularly known as “El Callao”, who was actively sought by the authorities on charges of homicide and other serious crimes. Peña, 27 years old and a native of this city, was listed in police records as a "highly dangerous" individual. He was subject to arrest warrant No. 2026-AJ0030485, for his alleged participation in the violent incident that occurred on April 4, 2026, where Mr. Clemente Navarro lost his life and citizen Reymi Peña Reynoso was seriously injured. Magistrate Elington Santiago Villar, representing the Public Ministry, appeared at the scene and subsequently offered statements to the media. Santiago confirmed that they are awaiting the medical examiner to proceed with the removal of the body in accordance with legal protocols.

When questioned about the specific details of the confrontation and whether the deceased was the person sought through police posters, Santiago remained cautious, indicating that the investigations are in their initial phase to clarify the chronology of events. According to the National Police's search bulletin, "El Callao" was accused of violating articles 2, 295 and 304 of the Dominican Penal Code, as well as Law 631-16 for the control of weapons, ammunition and related materials. The police deployment in Vista Al Valle generated great tension in the area, while the authorities collect evidence at the scene. The body will be transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for autopsy purposes.
