Elic Fernández resigns from the PLD after more than 30 years of political activism

Santo Domingo. – Lawyer and political scientist Elic Fernández, a recognized figure in the country's political and academic circles, formally announced his resignation from the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), after more than three decades of active militancy. The decision was communicated through a letter sent to the party president, Danilo Medina, in which Fernández explains the reasons that led him to make this determination, which, although not fully revealed, respond to a process of deep personal reflection on the national political landscape and its projection into the future. Throughout his career within the PLD, Elic Fernández established himself as a reference for critical thinking, actively participating in debates on democracy, institutionalism, and political reforms, in addition to contributing rigorously from the legal and academic fields.

His departure represents a major shake-up within the purple party, due to his influence and intellectual weight in internal discussions and in the public life of the country.
