Bonao.– Former employees and contractors of Falconbridge Dominicana, S.A. denounced the non-payment of their labor benefits, after having been evicted on March 2nd without receiving their benefits within the period established by law.
The affected parties pointed out that, since October of 2024, they remain in a "labor limbo", without concrete answers from the company or the authorities, which has generated a crisis that impacts dozens of families in Bonao. They indicated that, although more than 900 workers were laid off in 2024 and received their benefits through the Patrimonial Fund of Reformed Companies, a remaining group —including former employees and contractors— has not been incorporated into that process, being excluded from payments despite the availability of funds. The amount owed amounts to about 300 million pesos. "Each day of institutional silence worsens a situation that is already unsustainable," they expressed, reiterating that this problem directly affects the stability and dignity of their families.
