The Republic of India has become in 2025, the main trading partner of the Dominican Republic, taking into account that it is the main destination for exports from the national regime, and the country with the best trade balance in our favor, despite not having a trade agreement with that nation.

Exports to India are mainly driven by raw platinum-plated gold, having exported about US$947.5 million in gold, and about US$14.8 million in whole and ground cocoa.
Other significant exports to India include waste and scrap for recycling purposes of aluminum, lead, copper, paper or Kraft cardboard, tin-plated iron or steel, and steel alloys.
Another important line of exports are medical instruments or devices to India, of which US$1.7 has been exported.

Exports to India have reconfigured the order of the main destinations for national exports in 2025, remaining as follows according to volume and importance: India, Haiti, United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
In 2024 the order was United States, Haiti, Switzerland, Puerto Rico, and Canada.
Along with China, Russia, Poland, and Turkey, India is among the countries that have been searching for and buying the most gold worldwide.
It is estimated that India purchased 73 tons of gold in 2024, reaching a total of 841 tons of gold, this is because many central banks around the world have returned to using gold as a safe haven asset, due to the uncertainty and geopolitical conflicts of recent years.
India is currently the second-largest consumer of gold in the world. Gold jewelry is a symbol of status and wealth in Indian society, and it is common in important events such as weddings and religious festivals. Despite fluctuations in prices, the demand for gold in India remains constant and stable.
