Santo Domingo Este.– Authorities arrested a homeless man on Sunday afternoon, identified as the alleged responsible for throwing a stone at a moving vehicle, an act that seriously injured a 79-year-old woman in an incident that occurred days ago in this municipality.
The victim, identified as Mercedes Gil, sustained severe facial injuries after a rock hit the windshield of the vehicle she was traveling in with her family, while they were driving on a bridge that connects 25 de Febrero Avenue with the San Isidro highway.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the family was returning from the airport and traveling through the area, at which point the projectile was launched at the vehicle, causing the glass to break and the woman to be injured.
The suspect's detention was spread on social media, where several videos circulated of the moment he was held by citizens and later handed over to the authorities. In the images, the man is seen in an apparent state of confusion while being accosted by people present at the scene.
