Santo Domingo. – The Minister of Housing, Habitat and Buildings, Víctor – Ito – Bisonó, delivered this Monday the completely remodeled Table Tennis Pavilion in the Parque del Este, as part of the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
This work is added to other sports infrastructures executed by the Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (MIVHED) for the international event that will take place in the country for the third quarter of the year.
During the delivery, Minister Ito Bisonó called on citizens to take care of and preserve the Table Tennis Pavilion, emphasizing that the maintenance of this type of space is key to ensuring its durability and usefulness.
Likewise, he announced that the MIVHED is working at an accelerated pace on the delivery of new sports facilities in the coming days, as part of the ongoing preparations for these games, complying with the schedule.

“It's an infrastructure that organizes, that works and that responds to international standards that high-level sport needs today… everything necessary for table tennis to be practiced at a high-performance level”, said the official.
For his part, the Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, highlighted that, together with the MIVHED, a meticulously planned and designed plan has been developed to deliver these sports works on time, which will mark a before and after in the internationalization of Dominican sports.
“The Ministry of Sports feels very confident, very happy with these results. We know that we have a president like Luis Abinader who has not spared any effort to ensure that we have the necessary funds and give the country the best structures for the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026”, Cruz indicated.
Meanwhile, the president of the Organizing Committee of the Central American and Caribbean Games, José P. Monegro, highlighted that the best Central American games in history will be held in the country thanks to the high international standards of the infrastructures that have been delivered in the Parque del Este and in the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
Work Details
Among the works carried out are the installation of general interior and exterior lighting, maintenance and painting of the roof structure, as well as the modernization of electrical, sanitary and data systems.
Also, security systems such as CCTV and fire detection were implemented.
The venue has stands with a capacity for 1,344 spectators, VIP area, bathrooms for people with disabilities, restrooms for women and men, as well as administrative offices, locker rooms for athletes, a gym, doping area, cafeteria and storage spaces.
With these improvements, the pavilion complies with international regulations for high-performance sports, strengthening Santo Domingo Este's preparation as the venue for the Central American and Caribbean Games in its XXV edition. Besides the Table Tennis Pavilion, the MIVHED has already remodeled the Archery Pavilion, the Fencing Pavilion, and the Weightlifting Pavilion.
