MOPC immediately intervenes in landslides on the Majagual section of the Juan Pablo II highway

Writing.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reports that heavy equipment is working on the Majagual section of the Juan Pablo II highway, at the entrance to Los Haitises National Park, where landslides of earth and rocks were recorded as a result of the rains of the last few days, affecting traffic in the area.

As an immediate response, MOPC brigades began controlled demolition of rocks, cleaning and removal of material, with the aim of safely restoring circulation in the shortest possible time. Currently, the section is properly signposted and traffic has been channeled into a single lane, with the support of DIGESETT, while the work progresses. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution and follow the instructions of personnel on the road. It is expected that traffic will be completely restored by the end of the afternoon.
