The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice suspended half of the sentence imposed on the defendant of five years in prison after partially accepting a cassation appeal filed by the defendant against criminal sentence no. 203-2024-SSEN-00264, issued by the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeals of the Judicial Department of La Vega, on September 4, 2024, which confirmed the sentence imposed in the first instance by the Collegiate Court of the Judicial District of Sánchez Ramírez. Judges Francisco Antonio Jerez Mena, Nancy I. Salcedo Fernández, Fran Euclides Soto Sánchez, María G. Garabito Ramírez and Francisco Antonio Ortega Polanco, of the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, overturned the part related to the criminal sanction and consequently conditionally suspended 2 years and 6 months of the imposed sentence, under rules established by the judge of the Execution of the Sentence of La Vega, warning him that if he does not comply with the imposed conditions he must serve the entire sentence ordered by the appealed judgment. The Collegiate Court of the Judicial District of Sánchez Ramírez, through criminal judgment no. 963-2023-SSEN-00124, dated October 4, 2023, declared Sánchez Vázquez guilty of violating the legal provisions contained in articles 307, 309-2 and 309-3 of the Dominican Penal Code, as amended by Law no. 24-97, on Intrafamily Violence and against Women, for which he was sentenced to five (5) years in prison.
