San José de Ocoa. – The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) intensified the work to restore road safety on the Ocoa–Cruce de Ocoa highway, following the recent landslides recorded on this important section.
Minister Eduardo Estrella supervised the work in the area, where traffic has already been partially restored under strict precautionary measures. During the tour, he verified the progress in the construction of a provisional bypass, considered as an immediate solution while definitive alternatives are defined.
"This is a road that has presented problems for decades. We are working on a provisional detour to ensure safe transit. The most important thing is to preserve lives and avoid the prolonged closure of the road," said the official.
Estrella explained that the work will be kept under constant monitoring, especially given the predicted rains, which could compromise the stability of the terrain.
