Santo Domingo.– The deputy of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Ramón Raposo, considered that the Dominican State must strengthen public policies aimed at guaranteeing effective protection for women, especially in the fight against domestic violence and femicides.
The legislator made these statements during a meeting with mothers from the Brisas de Los Palmares community, in the Sabana Perdida sector, Santo Domingo Norte municipality, where he addressed various issues related to the well-being of Dominican families.
Raposo expressed his concern about the number of women who have lost their lives at the hands of their partners or ex-partners during the first months of 2026, a situation he described as alarming and that requires a more forceful response from the authorities.
"The overflow of domestic violence and femicides is a reality that demands firm, coordinated, and sustained actions from the State," he expressed.
The congressman maintained that it is necessary to expand efforts in areas such as education, family guidance, mental health, and the comprehensive protection of victims, with the purpose of preventing violence and offering greater development opportunities for women.
Likewise, it was pointed out that guaranteeing safe and dignified environments for women should constitute a national priority, which is why a call was made to strengthen prevention and care programs aimed at this sector of the population.
Raposo reiterated his commitment to promote initiatives that contribute to the protection of women's rights and to the construction of a more just and safe society for all.
