A 61-year-old Spanish man who put his wife under the influence of barbiturates, raped her, filmed the rape scenes and uploaded them to the internet was sentenced this Friday to eight and a half years in prison by the Provincial Court of Aachen (west of Germany). The events, according to the ruling, occurred between 2018 and 2024 in the home where the couple lived. The man, identified as Fernando P. and who worked as a school janitor, was found guilty of rape, serious personal injury, and violating his wife's personal sphere with the images.

The sentence is not yet final and an appeal can be filed against it. The investigations were initiated, according to the court, based on information provided by a journalist to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). The prosecution had requested a sentence of 10 years and the defense, eight. According to the BKA, the victims of rape under the influence of medication are almost exclusively women and are crimes in which those responsible abuse a relationship of trust. The Aachen case has parallels with the so-called Pelicot Case in France. A year ago, Dominique Pelicot was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of doping with drugs and raping for years, along with other men, his ex-wife Gisel Pelicot. Along with Dominique Pelicot, 50 other men were sentenced to prison terms.
