Tehran activates its air defenses, Iranian media report

Tehran.- Air defenses were activated tonight in Tehran, according to several Iranian media outlets that did not explain the reason.

"Air defenses are active in Tehran," reported the state-run Tehran Times on X, which accompanied the message with a video showing the firing of defenses in the capital's sky.

The Mehr agency, linked to the Revolutionary Guard, also reported the firing of Iranian anti-aircraft artillery. None of the media explained the reason for the activation of the defensive systems, which had not been operating since the ceasefire that was reached between Tehran and Washington on April 8 with the mediation of Pakistan.

Trump's Order to Attack Vessels

The incident occurs amid renewed tensions between Iran and the United States after US President Donald Trump ordered an attack on any small vessel in the Strait of Hormuz that might be deploying mines, despite the ceasefire that he himself extended indefinitely.

In addition, the Revolutionary Guard captured two ships yesterday and attacked another one, in response to the pressures from the United States, which maintains a naval blockade on Iranian ports and ships.
