They arrest "El Baca" for assault and battery of a senior citizen in Tenares

Moca, Espaillat province.– National Police agents arrested a young man accused of participating in a violent assault against a senior citizen in the municipality of Tenares. The detainee was identified as Juan Rodríguez Vargas, alias "El Baca", 19 years old, a resident of the La Guama sector, who was captured by judicial order following intelligence work carried out by members of the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM). According to the police report, the incident occurred on May 2nd, when three individuals broke into the home of Mr. Ramón Durán, 75 years old, whom they physically assaulted to steal a sum of cash. According to the authorities, the victim was struck with a blunt object, which caused multiple injuries, including trauma and fractures in the facial area, so they remain admitted to a health center in San Francisco de Macorís. Investigations indicate that Rodríguez Vargas did not act alone, but in the company of two other men known as “La Leche” and “Chelo”, who are fugitives.

At the time of his arrest, the young man was found with 4,000 pesos in cash, while during the interrogation he allegedly admitted his participation in the act. The Police reported that they are actively searching for the other individuals involved, with the aim of apprehending them and bringing them to justice. The detainee is in custody and will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office for the corresponding legal purposes.
