Yemen's Houthis threaten military intervention if more US allies join the war

Sana.- Yemen's Houthi rebels, allies of Iran, declared on Friday night that they are ready to get involved in the conflict in the Middle East with a direct military intervention if new actors join the United States and Israel in their offensive against Iran, or if the Red Sea is used for attacks against Iran. In a televised statement, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea assured that the group's forces have "their hands on the trigger" and are prepared to intervene under these specific conditions that would expand the war in the region. Sarea said that these conditions include "the arrival of any new alliance with the United States and Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran" and the "abuse of the Red Sea to carry out hostile operations" against Tehran or against any Muslim country. "We will not allow it," he affirmed.

Stop the war in Iran, the demand of the Houthi of Yemen

The statement also called against the escalation of the conflict by Washington and Tel Aviv, suggesting that the response of the Houthis will depend on the development of their offensive. These statements come as a month has passed since the United States and Israel launched air strikes against Iran, a stronghold of the "Axis of Resistance" which includes the Houthis, among other armed groups in the Middle East. The Red Sea, a key route for global trade, has recently become a point of debate following previous attacks by the Houthis against ships and commercial targets linked to Israel, according to the group. Any attempt to block or disrupt traffic on this route could have strong implications for international trade, especially through the strategic Bab al Mandeb Strait, at the southern entrance to the Red Sea. Sarea also requested an immediate halt to the "aggression" against Iran, as well as against Lebanon, Gaza, and Iraq, and demanded that the agreements related to the war in Gaza be fulfilled. Despite the threats, the Houthi spokesperson made no mention of the plans or operations that could materialize them.
