Roberto José Rodríguez Marchena (August 8, 1955 - May 6, 2025) was a prominent Dominican communicator and political leader. He was married to Rosa Rita Álvarez and was the father of two children, Carlos Alejandro and Liliana.
Rodríguez Marchena played a key role in government communication during the governments of Danilo Medina (2012–2020), serving as Director General of Communication and spokesperson for the Presidency.
In August 2012, he was appointed by decree 471-12 as Director of Information, Press and Advertising of the Presidency and the Government Information Center (CIG), heading the General Directorate of Communication (DICOM) for eight years and serving as the official spokesperson for the Government. During this period, he received recognition from the National Council of Export Free Zones (CNZFE) for his constant support to the sector.
In May 2023, he was appointed communication coordinator of the presidential campaign of Abel Martínez, candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) for the 2024 elections. In July of that same year, he announced his aspiration to join the Political Committee of the PLD, a commitment he fulfilled shortly after, consolidating his influence within the party.

Marchena always expressed a firm commitment to the principles and future of the PLD. He affirmed that the organization represents the aspirations of various social sectors, including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, women and workers. He pledged to strengthen the party's communication and promote policies inspired by love for one's neighbor and nature.
His declared objective was to contribute to the return of the PLD to power in 2028, for the well-being of Dominican families and the sustainability of the productive sector.
His career reflected a combination of experience in strategic communication and political commitment, which consolidated him as an influential figure in the national landscape.
